Anesthetic Safety

If surgery is recommended, you can feel comfortable knowing that our hospital takes extensive precautions and administers anesthesia in the safest manner possible.

When administering anesthesia, your pet's safety is always our primary concern. Our anesthetic procedures are tailored to meet each patient’s needs. We monitor your pet's vital signs throughout the anesthetic and surgical procedure, including:

  • Oxygen level in the blood
  • Heart rate
  • Blood pressure
  • Respiratory rate
  • Temperature

Pre-surgical bloodwork gives us vital insight into your pet’s overall health and allows our veterinarians to determine if they are an appropriate candidate for surgery. If necessary, anesthetic protocols may be altered and if your pet’s health does not allow us to use anesthetic drugs safely, procedures may be postponed or even canceled.
